Independent Living

The Independent Living Program is designed for a woman 18 to 40 struggling to live on her own. She needs to have a desire to learn and make major life changes. She must be willing to live in a group setting and have the potential and the desire to live independently.

Our program offers educational opportunities for GED completion, college and technical school enrollment. We teach independent living skills in the areas of finances, car care, household management, computer skills, dating and marriage, employment skills and personal spiritual growth. We help residents with personal counseling and encourage fellowship in a local Baptist church.

Our Independent Living Home is located in Lafayette, Indiana, a progressive community in West Central Indiana. Lafayette provides educational and employment opportunities. The community also offers a variety of cultural and social events.

Each resident is asked to commit to a minimum stay of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years. She must be committed to work on personal goals established during her stay. She must also attend church regularly and abide by the house rules. To encourage responsible living, a resident will pay a small percentage of her income for room and board. When a resident is ready to leave the program, we help with skills in locating an apartment, signing a lease and setting up housekeeping.
